Barcelona Digital, technological center specialized in Research and Development of the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), participates in the organization of the first edition of SecureCloud Barcelona 2010, a world meeting of experts in the environment of new technologies, to debate the state of the security in Cloud Computing and to present the challenges of the future. The conference will take place the 16th and 17th of March in the Hotel Majestic of Barcelona.

 

The meeting will be centered on knowing the proposals to promote security, privacy and confidence in the network, and on relating to Cloud Computing, with a practical perspective oriented to the decisions makers, through presentations by the main leaders of the group.  With this objective, the program, which includes two large subject matters: Security and Privacy, will analyze the challenges to give confidence to the use of Cloud technology and will value the threats of the near future; and, on the other hand, Legal aspects and Guarantees, as professional certifications, norms and regulations, frameworks of management, etc.

 

Cloud Computing is a technology that allows the set up of infrastructures, information and applications on the Internet, and permits access of any simple form of data processing team (laptops, PDAs, etc.) and always provide the same level of service regardless of the number of users without need to be an expert, offering all those services and resources that provide a data processing system, in a method of payment-by-use, thus facilitating the dynamic display of infrastructures, platforms, and software. Google, Microsoft or Amazon has already begun to prepare products and systems based on Cloud Computing for businesses. The fact that remains in the Network, nevertheless, there are problems of security and privacy, among others. These problems are exactly the ones that will be dealt with in the SecureCloud2010 event.

 

Along with the European Network of Information and Security (ENISA), the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) and ISACA, three of the main organizations of the group, Barcelona Digital is participating in the coordination of the program and in the selection of the speakers, of which they emphasize Dave Cullinane, delegate of Information and Security of Ebay and president of the Meeting of the CSA, and Dr. Udo Helmbrecht, executive director of ENISA. It also emphasizes the collaboration in the event from the Secretary of Telecommunications i Societad of the Informació of the Generalitat of Catalonia, that will participate in a security board in Cloud infrastructures for eGoverment. 

 

SecureCloud 2010 is a free meeting, directed to enterprisers, business leaders, political heads and, overall, to security and information professionals, and intends to bring closer the security of the network to the citizens, as well as to be become a business networking space, to put political leaders in contact with experts of the group.
