Today the CESICAT Foundation has been constituted, of which Barcelona Digital is a member, with the objective to execute the public politics of security in the environment of information technologies, the communication (TIC) and to generate a weaving Catalan business dedicated to the security in the TIC.
In the CESICAT Foundation they participate, by the Generalitat de Catalunya, all those departments and competent organs in regards to the information society, public security and investigation: Governació i Administracions Públiques; Interior, Relacions Institucionals i Participació; Innovació, Universitats i Empresa; el Centre de Tecnologies de la Informació i la Comunicació (CTTI); ACC1Ó and the Consorci Administració Oberta Electrònica de Catalunya (AOC). Also present, the General Counsel of Chambers of Catalonia, the City Council of Reus and la Caixa d'Estalvis i Pensions de Barcelona. In this manner, the Foundation is represented to the public sector of the Generalitat, the local world, the world of investigation and business sector.
After the signing of the CESICAT Foundation constitution, it has reunited the first patronage of the Foundation.
The CESICAT is born with the objective to guarantee a Society of the definite Information for the citizenship, the businesses and the public administrations, and to give answers to problematic computing incidents. These incidents affect very negatively to the confidence in the electronic environment, things that inhibit the deployment of the Information Society as a tool for the circulation of ideas, information and knowledge, and also its utilization to relate to the public administrations or to execute commercial transactions.
The CESICAT, therefore, is the destined organ to execute the public politics of security in the environment of information technologies and communication, clearly-defined in the Information Security Plan in Catalonia. This is a tool to improve the utilization of security conditions of the TIC, so many of the networks and infrastructures such as the digital contents. Given their importance, this new tool implies greatly to the administration, which has the competences in telecommunications, modernization, consumption and electronic commerce, like the local administrations, the network of universities and the private sector, through the chambers of commerce and businesses.
